For just the cost of postage, we're volunteering our time to sort through donated books and publications of appropriate subjects to send to our incarcerated and/or institutionalized brothers & sisters. Anyone may request books on behalf of any prisoner or institutionalized person and when postage is available, we'll do our very best to favorably respond. Due to our faith-based identity and typical restrictions of institutions, the following subjects and content will not be considered without a legitimate religious, medical, or health basis:

  • Sexuality
  • Anti-Religious
  • Inflammatory Political Rhetoric

Though in service of all, our Prison Ministry emphasizes strengthening the under-served religious population of Muslims. Example: "As of March 2020, 199 of the 236 federal prison chaplains, or 84%, were Protestant Christian, even though that faith group makes up only 34% of inmates. There were no more than 13 Muslim chaplains in the past six years working at federal prisons — and that number remains today, even though the number of Muslim inmates has grown during that time, to 11,073." https://www.npr.org/2021/07/12/1014823399/muslim-chaplains-federal-prisons-islam-religion-shortage. With Muslims making up only 1% of the US population and mostly living in metropolitan areas, services to Muslim inmate mostly serving sentences in rural areas are hard to reach. One of our partners in this is the Tayba Foundation whose mission is "dedicated to serving individuals and families impacted by incarceration.  We believe in the power of human change through holistic education, guidance, and support.  Our work is organized into three interrelated program areas: Education, Lifeskills, and Re-entry." https://www.taybafoundation.org/
